The Bhutanese cuisine has one king, the chilli. Even though the range of food is diverse, with rice, corn, buckwheat, cheese, milk, and many more, the chilli can be found in almost all dishes in various quantities.

Rice and chilli is common throughout the nation but indigenous food also exists. Buckwheat noodles(puta) from Bumthang in the central valleys, Corn and rice (kharang) from the east and dumplings (hoentey) from Haa in the west are some notable dishes.
